WWF uses sports to encourage environmental protection in Tanzania.

Despite the various efforts made to protect the environment, there is still environmental damage and statistics show that more than 460 hectares are lost every year due to human activities.

This was stated today in Dar es Salaam by the Director of WWF Dr. Amani Ngusalo in the event to celebrate the week of the tree planting campaign which will be concluded on March 27 which is Earth hour day in the world and There will be various activities including football league and tree planting.

He also said that the league will involve 8 universities including UDSM, TUDARCO, and NIT together in a campaign to plant 10,000 trees in various areas of Tanzania including the Coastal, Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam and Tanga regions.

However, he said that the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) will cooperate with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism as well as the Office of the Vice President for Union and Environment in ensuring that the goal of environmental conservation and tree planting is successful and reduce disasters caused by changes in the country’s behavior.

“Tomorrow we will start a tree planting campaign in Dar es Salaam, Pwani, and Chato as it commemorates the death of the President of the Fifth Phase of the United Republic of Tanzania Dr. John Pombe Magufuli as well as the start of the football league that will be managed by the Federation of Tanzania Football (TFF)” Said Dr. Kiss”

For his part, TFF representative Ally Ruvu has asked the participants of the competition to ensure that they follow the required procedures, namely the 17 rules of football, as well as show their talents because football is a job.

“Let me remind the young people, especially those who will participate in this league, to realize that football is a job, and through those games, TFF will analyze the most talented so that they can play in the national youth team,” said Ally Ruvu.
